Oriental Rug Conservation
Oriental Rug Conservation is an important part of retaining one’s investment in an Oriental rug.
It is a treatment that stabilizes the existing condition of your Oriental rug in order to prevent further damage. One of the most commonly used conservation treatments is the overcastting of loose ends. Overcasting is a basting stitch that secures the last weft on the end preventing further raveling. A thorough cleaning is also considered a “conservation” measure.
